Mustered Out- March 24, 1864, at Camp Nelson, Kentucky
Highest Rank- Sergeant

Shot in the “left side or back” in a skirmish on January 1, 1864, near Canoe by “rebels” while on a march from Booneville to Jackson.

Died- from his wound on May 31, 1864, at his home on the North Fork of the Kentucky River near George’s Branch.

Buried- June 1, 1864, at the Strong Cemetery, Strongville (near Whick), Breathitt County, Kentucky
