Team Rubgy – March 2-3, 2024

By Stephen D. Bowling

Team Ruby won the weather lottery on their third hike and enjoyed both warm temperatures and one day of sunshine as they made their way from Clear Creek to Natural Bridge State Park. The cooling effects from wet feet were offset by a thermometer that reached 70 degrees on Sunday. Despite the miles, most carried smiles as they hiked to the cars.

Here are a few images from Team Rugby during the March hike:

Hike Three was a very nice weekend. Despite the unexpected re-route, the hike basically equaled the same distance as was planned. The weather really smiled on us, and the trail conditions (despite the mud) were nice. The rain during the week made the stream crossing higher than normal, and the river crossing had to be abandoned due to high water. Luckily, there is a detour.

Remember, we will hike twice in March. Make sure your equipment is ready as we hike from Whittleton Branch to Todds Road with a very nice overnight stay at Lago Linda. There is some road walk still ahead, but we are quickly reducing the number of miles left on the asphalt.

Have a great week. I hope to see everyone on the trail during the last two weeks in March.
