Mustered Out: 1863, October 20 at Hazel Green in Wolfe County, Kentucky.
Paid: 1862, June 30 by Major Crutchfield.

Captain H. C. Swango’s Second Mounted Cavalry Service Record lists the only official information about his death.

Died on January 18, 1863, on Devil’s Creek in Wolfe County, Kentucky. Service record stated: “Killed in action with State Guards near Campton, Kentucky on January 18, 1863.”

Buried in the Swango Cemetery near the mouth of Baptist Fork, near Trent in Wolfe County, Kentucky.

Following the close of the Civil War, Henry Chapman Swango was posthumously indicted at Frankfort for Treason in September 1866. The charges were later dropped.
